GROWLERS!  Defined by "Wikipedia" as "...a half gallon (1.89 Litres) glass jug used to transport draft beer in America."

Commonly sold at breweries and brewpubs as a means to sell "take-out" beer, growler bottles are made of glass and have a tin or plastic screw-on cap, which provide freshness for a few days before losing carbonation. Growlers can be REUSED indefinitely... gotta love THAT concept!

GRAB-A-GROWLER!!!

SPECIAL NOTE:  Scroll down for a link to new info...

State Line Liquors is happy to introduce GROWLERS to our loyal beer fans... featuring a new selection of draught beers, served in a re-usable, half-gallon State Line Growler "jug" and sealed with screw-on cap. Bring back the washed Growler jug and we'll refill it as often as you like!

Keep in mind we'll introduce NEW beers on a regular basis. Each draught beer is available while supplies last!  PRICING: $5 Non-refundable bottle deposit (updated). Prices per (64oz) refill as listed below.

IMPORTANT NOTES:  As we rotate our kegs regularly, please give us a call to make sure our listings are current. Thanks!

February "Kill the Keg" specials....we'll be finishing up some odds and ends of kegs that were pulled from the growler program because of tastings, distributor commitments, inventory rotation, etc. We're going to commit two or three of our taps and price them to move. (See below for "Kill the Keg Specials"!)  We'll try to keep the webpage current but if you just want to make sure, please give us a call... Thanks again!  Robert

A BIT 'O HISTORY

As for where Growlers came from, BeerAdvocate says it all started around the turn of the 20th century when beer was often carried home in a small galvanized pail. "Rumor has it that when the beer sloshed around in the pail, it created a rumbling sound as the CO2 escaped through the lid...". Another theory suggests growlers "...are named for the buckets of beer once given to factory workers before their stomachs began to 'growl' from hunger". Of course in today's world, beer in a bucket just won't do... hence, the sanitized moonshine-style glass jug!

Again, please stop back as we add NEW Beers. We hope to see you soon!
